COMPUTER BUSINESS APPLICATIONS SPECIALIST
Program Objectives
The objective of this program is to give the student "hands-on" training in the basic areas of financial accounting, as well as in the implementation and operation of a computerized accounting system. The practical, rather than the theoretical, is stressed.

The focus of this program is to familiarize the student with the skills necessary to enter the work force as a trained user of the most popular computer software applications.

The objective is for the student to develop practical skills in software applications for major office functions. Students will be provided with "hands-on" training on a computer. In addition, the student will be taught the terms, concepts, and methods to fully utilize each application.

Career Opportunities
Career paths are wide and varied since any business can use these packages. Successful graduates can expect careers in any type of organization -- large or small -- in the private, government, or manufacturing sectors.

Certifications
This program includes the potential for Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certification at the expert level in Word and Excel and at the core level in Access and PowerPoint.

Prerequisites
Grade 12 or equivalent OR mature student status (19 years of age)
Passing score on the entrance examination
