STUDENT ASSISTANT
Program Objectives
This program is intended for the individual who is interested in working as a member of an educational team to assist students in maximizing their learning potential. Our program prepares Student Assistants to support the instructional, behavioral, and social needs of students under the direction of a teacher. The Student Assistant Program is committed to preparing paraprofessionals to provide support for educational programs within a spirit of collaboration and partnership.

Career Opportunities
Currently there are approximately 880 student assistants working in various schools across the province. The number of students needing specialized care varies from year to year and from place to place. School Boards across the province report a consistent demand for replacement work on a daily basis, with prospects for full time employment within one to two years.

Prerequisites
Grade 12 or equivalent OR mature student status (19 years of age)
Passing score on the entrance examination
Clear conduct certificate
